Free Webinar! Asia’s Healthcare Moment, and the Stocks that will Ride it

Healthcare in Asia has taken centre stage at the onset of the pandemic.

Between 2009 and 2019, Singapore’s healthcare expenditure rose from S$3.7 billion to S$11.3 billion, an increase of S$7.6 billion over a 10 year period.

Then, COVID-19 struck.

Over the past two years, our island nation ramped up its spend by another S$7.5 billion, increasing our annual spend from S$11.3 billion to S$18.8 billion.

In short, the increase in the last two years is almost equivalent to that of the last 10 years.

Singapore is not alone in its higher spending.

Three of our most populous Asian neighbours, namely Indonesia, China, and India, are also spending big on vaccination programmes and to improve their healthcare systems in a post-pandemic world.

These investments are sorely needed as Asian healthcare spending has historically lagged its OECD counterparts.

We believe that the pandemic has become the catalyst to spur faster growth in the Asian healthcare sector.

More importantly, we are likely to be in the early stages of a multi-year growth trend.
